Welcome to the CMS videocasts on Belt and Road

The series explores the topics that have been identified in our global research study as being top of mind for participants in BRI projects. Our CMS experts discuss different aspects of Belt and Road in depth, and consider how participants can make the most of the opportunities that BRI can present.

New! Episode 3: The Digital Silk Road

Digital technology is an increasingly important part of BRI. Since it emerged in 2015, the Digital Silk Road has not seen as much investment as many other aspects of BRI but with the new priorities of BRI 2.0 and the worldwide boost given to new technologies by the pandemic, it looks set to achieve much greater prominence over the next decade. CMS China Managing Partner Ulrike Gluck discusses what the Digital Silk Road is, and what opportunities it presents, with CMS experts Jonathan Chu and Ben Gibson.

Episode 2: The greening of BRI

Long-term environmental sustainability of BRI projects is a key aspect of BRI 2.0 and is a key metric by which investors will decide where to invest, and by which governments will rate the success of a project. How can BRI projects be structured to be more sustainable, does digitisation have a role and what does green financing mean in reality for BRI? In this videocast, CMS China Managing Partner Ulrike Gluck asks these questions, and more, to CMS energy and infrastructure experts Munir Hassan and Adrian Wong.

Episode 1: Avoiding and managing risks, planning for success

Legal and regulatory issues are the risks most often associated with the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), according to a recent CMS survey. In the first videocast of our BRI series, CMS partners discuss the nature of these risks, how they can be avoided and what to do when a disagreement becomes a dispute.
